The panel will be led by local artist legend Zarco Guerrero, who has devoted the last 30 years of his life to creating masks for theater, performance, and cultural displays. Zarco’s work has been featured during Phoenix Suns halftime events and cultural festivals for Japanese Matsuri Festival and Día de los Muertos, as well as an hour-long PBS documentary on his work, titled The Mask of El Zarco. He will be joined on stage by members of the Flow Ninjas: a group of parkour-enthusiasts-turned-cosplayers who regularly study mask-making under Zarco and perform at various cultural events and costume conventions.
