Imagine a world where few could read or write. How would you know if the armor-clad warrior approaching is friend or foe? In popular shows like Game of Thrones and The Tudors, plus games like Assassin's Creed and World of Warcraft, symbols are used to represent different factions. The use of symbols isn't limited to historical/fantasy, though. In comics such as Superman and Batman, symbols are used to represent the heroes, and sometimes the villans. In this panel we'll give a brief explanation of what heraldry is and how it's used in today's pop culture.
